Why Jennifer Lopez Hasn’t Aged

Great genetics, a solid workout regimen, eating healthy, possible vampire? Probably all of the above! Regardless, with J. Lo’s incredible performance (and Shakira’s) at the Super Bowl, the world is wondering how Jennifer Lopez has not aged. At 50 years old, Jennifer still looks in her 30’s. (And no, it’s not plastic surgery!) J. Lo really shows us that if you make healthy choices early on, you really can maintain a healthy body for years to come.

Here are a few reasons J. Lo is ageless, and yes, it’s all the things you would expect.

She Never Misses A Workout

If you follow her on Instagram, you can see fitness is a huge part of J. Lo’s life. That woman is in the gym daily, sometimes multiple times and it shows! If shes’s not working out, she’s performing at one of her high energy shows, so it’s mystery she’s in incredible shape.

She Avoids Alcohol, Smoking and Caffeine

Jennifer strictly avoids alcohol, smoking and caffeine and has done so her whole life. “I don’t drink or smoke or have caffeine,” she admitted to InStyle, “That really wrecks your skin as you get older.”

She Doesn’t Lay Out in the Sun

Laying out in sun, getting a tan? No thanks, says J. Lo. “I am rarely in the sun, but if I am, I wear a lot of sunscreen,” she told InStyle. “I’ve never been one to take a lot of sun, which is why my skin has maintained itself.”

She Eats Healthy

Surprisingly, J. Lo takes time to cook healthy meals at home, including traditional Puerto Rican dishes. “We eat a lot of green vegetables, asparagus, Brussel sprouts, broccoli and kale,” she explained. “I love to cook a lot of stuff, I love cooking Puerto Rican food because that’s what I grew up on.”

She Meditates

We all know stress is a major ager and J. Lo helps balance her body and mind with meditation. She practices 20 minutes per day, usually once in the morning and once in the evening.

She Prioritizes Sleep

All nighters for J. Lo? Nope! Jennifer is big on getting adequate rest. “I love a good nine or 10 hours, but I can never get that,” the mother-of-two told Us Weekly. “So seven or eight is mandatory. [If I don’t get it] I just don’t feel right. I start feeling crazy, I get emotional and I feel tired all the time.”

She IS Her Own Happiness

Most importantly, Jennifer has found her own happiness within herself. As the saying goes, “the most beautiful woman is a happy woman,” and with J. Lo it shows!

“As girls, I think we are taught from a very young age that someone else is going to bring us our happiness,” she told InStyle Magazine. “I was waiting for Prince Charming. Everybody I met was going to be the guy I was going to spend my life with. And then you realize, ‘I’m strong’ I’m my own keeper, my own saviour.

“That’s been the journey for me.”
