We’re so excited that summer is officially in full swing! We know you’re packing and traveling and all that fun stuff, so we thought we’d offer some style and travel tips along with our friends at Lilla P. For those of you who are new to the beautiful simplicity of Lilla P., they’re a chic womenswear brand offering wearable styles that are both fashionable and comfortable.
The beauty of the Lilla P. line is the simplicity and clean lines. They’ve taken traditional tailoring and hemlines and added a bit of understated flair -such as “boyfriend” styles, trendy boxy cuts, and modern loose fits, often created with beautiful subdued colors; think soft greys, lavender, sage green, and of course, plenty of bright white.

When it comes to summer and travel, versatile, comfortable, breathable wardrobe pieces are essential. In other words, when traveling during the summer, it is not the time for heavy embellishments, sky high stilettos, or heavy, thick fabrics. So, when packing your suitcase this season, put away the heavy, complicated stuff and seek simplicity and versatility. With high airline baggage fees and the frequently absent elevators in foreign countries, not only will you want to have a stylish wardrobe, but you’ll also want to keep it lightweight and transportable. For anyone who has ever lugged luggage through the cliffsides of Santorini -you know exactly what we’re talking about! Here are our style and travel tips for staying both chic AND comfortable this summer.
Pack Versatile Pieces
Pack pieces that you can take from day to night or that you can layer and wear in multiple ways. We love this Lilla P. Voile Caftan top below because we can use it as both a beach cover-up and for a daytime look -or even for a night out! It’s the perfect example of a versatile piece that can be layered for day or night. The same goes for your shoes. Everyone knows that shoes take up a ton of luggage space! Bring only the shoes you absolutely need and will be versatile with multiple outfits. In fact, if you can pull it off, only pack 3 pairs of shoes. One pair of neutral toned sandals, one pair of athletic shoes, and one pair of neutral colored low heels (2 inch heel or less).
Stick To Light Fabrics
This applies to both the color and density. Lightweight, light colored fabrics will keep you cooler and more comfortable during hot summer months. Light colored linen and cotton fabrics are best for summer. Skip dark colors, heavy embellishments, wool, or polyester. We love this Lilla P. white linen blazer below because we can pair it with boyfriend jeans or throw it over a summer dress for a night out. It’s both light and lightweight and it will keep you warm should an ocean breeze blow in.
Skip Boots and Bulky Shoes

While we’re on the subject of simplicity, leave the bulky books and platform stilettos at home. Not only do they take up too much space in your luggage, but platforms are not realistic for traveling. While they might work for a night out at a club, they’re not feasible for much else. If you really need heels, stick to 2 inches or less or even “kitten” heels. Your feet will thank you and you’ll free up a lot of luggage space!
Skip Large Handbags
Last, but not least, do not travel with large bulky handbags. They take up way too much luggage space and will cost you in baggage fees. Instead, opt for smaller clutches and shoulder bags. They’re easier to pack and travel with. Plus, you won’t have to worry about lugging a big heavy bag while you’re sightseeing or out dancing.
