There was no better way to chill out on a hot NYC night than this past hot Tuesday’s #SummerSocial hosted in NYC by InStyle magazine and Single Edition Media. Being enveloped in a hypercool ambiance filled with amazing companies and the unforgettable scent of Thierry Mugler’s Alien and Angel perfumes immediately awakened our senses with excitement to learn more and try out each product!
What to Wear
Amongst the brands involved was the new Athleisure clothing line, Peony. The Miami based collection, founded by Stephanie Feldenkreis, creates multi-purpose clothing such as tanks, sports bras, shorts and leggings that take the wearer from work to workout to date night. Prices range from $60- $150 and the line is currently only sold online at peonyandme.com.
An amazing solution to staying cool and looking hot is Sally Hensen’s answer to nude pantyhose- which we’re already insanely huge fans of! Sally Hansen’s Airbrush Legs allows users to spray on and airbrush their legs with flesh toned colors. You just spray on rub on like a moisturizer and within minutes you can have nearly flawless, tanned gams that stay until washed without the fuss and discomfort of hosiery. Another benefit is the fact that there will never be any embarrassing rips or tears!
Being stylish also means keeping clothes smelling fresh and looking new, so we were very happy to see Tide with it’s new Tide Pads featuring Febreeze at the event!
Beauty & Skincare Collections
InStyle had it covered in the basics for any stylish girls beauty rituals with a focus on Hair, Skin and Nails. The most patient attendees were treated to manicures by Essie nail polish. The collection was started by Queens native Essie Weingarten in the early eighties and has been going strong ever since! The clever company now owned by L’Oreal offers over 900 different colors and has recently brought on Rebecca Minkoff as a global color designer.
Skincare in the summertime can be a nightmare if not armed with the right tools. Luckily we had some great beauty companies offering help. Dickinsons Original Witch Hazel was cleansing, soothing and healing guests skin (perfect for all skin types!) with its all natural refreshing clean towelettes, so now we can’t wait to try the company’s other products! Neutrogena was also in attendance with their new Hydro Boost Moisturizer, which is based off of an Asian formula that offers the benefits of a hybrid between a facial moisturizer and a cooling gel meant to hydrate the skin and boost its elasticity.
Hair styling can be a tricky feat if you’re not informed or inclined even if you have all the right hot tools. Fortunately Sarah Potempa, celebrity hairstylist has simplified styling with her new Beachwaver. With the press of a button the rotating curling iron is super easy to use and decreases styling time to about five minutes! Jose Eber Salon was also on-hand making everyone in attendance look camera-ready with blowouts and styling.
Thierry Mugler was also present with their timeless classic fragrances Angel and Alien. Both fragrances were inspired by Mugler’s mother and “looking to the stars in the heavens” came the creation of both Angel in 1992 and Alien in 2005. Luckily, we snagged our very own bottles of both fragrances and left as very happy campers.
Food
InStyle kept us munching and hydrated with tasty vegan appetizers from Gardein, coconut water from Zico, and low calorie wine from Brancott Estate. If you’ve never tried Gardein, you must go out and get these delectable vegan foods! Trust us, Gardein is not the odd vegan fare you’re used to. Gardein products are delicious and delightful in texture, and they really taste like the “real” thing.
On the beverage side, Zico, one of our favorite coconut waters kept us hydrated with their flavored coconut water that was perfectly refreshing on a hot summer evening. Brancott Estate wine was also present with their tasty low calorie wine that has all the flavor minus the sugar. If you’re looking for yummy wine without the calories, Bancroft is your best friend. They even offered bedazzled iphone cases!
