Often when we get busy, staying active can fall to the wayside. Between work, family, friends, and relationships, working out can be the first thing we slack on when we get busy. However, fitness and a packed schedule are not mutually exclusive. Sometimes even 20 minutes of exercise per day can make the difference. Here are a few ways to stay active, no matter how busy you are.
Join a Sports League With Your Friends
This is one of the best ways to stay active and spend time with your friends! Research local sports leagues like softball, basketball, soccer, tennis, etc. By participating in active, social activities with people you enjoy being with, you’re much more likely to show up and stick the schedule.
Take the Stairs / Walk to Work
Instead of using the elevator, take the stairs. You’ll be surprised at how effective this is at burning extra calories everyday. Walking to work is also a great option if weather and time permits. The idea is to maximize your everyday movements to get more exercise.
Utilize Short, Targeted Workout Videos
Youtube has a massive variety of short, targeted workouts that you can easily do in the morning before work. Even 20 minutes of a targeted, effective workout will keep you fit and active. Never think you have to spend an hour in the gym to stay fit.
Divide Your Workouts
If you’re short on time, try dividing your workouts. For instance, you can do 15 minutes of abs in the morning and 15 minutes of legs in the evening or a 15 minute jog. Either way, by dividing your workouts, you can get your fitness in without it consuming huge chunks of your time.
Join ClassPass
Joining a membership service like ClassPass helps you stay on track, not just because you have a huge variety of classes, but if you cancel less than 24 hours before, you have to pay $20 penalty. This is actually a good thing for sticking to your workouts, because people are much less likely to flake if it’s going to hit their pocket book!
