We hate to break it to everyone, but summer is all but over. And what a gorgeous summer it was! As sad as it is to pack away our cutoffs and sandals, fall/winter fashion ALWAYS has us pretty excited to bundle up. Here are 5 trends that will get you excited for the impending cool weather.
Tall Boots Are Back
Ankle booties ruled fall/winter last year, but tall boots are making a comeback this season. Seen on the runways for Chanel, Donna Karan, and Gucci, the tall boot trend is back with a vengeance for FW ’14/’15. Most runways showed boots with at least a mid calf-length with many going well past the knee.
’60s Revival
Of course along with tall boots, the mod ’60s have found their way back this season. Seen on the runways of Saint Laurent, Gucci, and House of Holland, Mad Men inspired shift dresses, collared necklines, and groovy colorful prints are all the rage. Now’s the time to dig into your mom’s/grandma’s attic!
Comfort Is In Style
Loose knits, easy pants, light soft fabrics and long hemlines are making their mark this season. Marc Jacobs especially embraced the “undone” look on his FW’ 14/15 runway, pictured below. So feel free to skip the tailoring and embrace comfort this season!
Soft Muted Tones
From light browns, greyish blues to muted pinks and yellows, gorgeous soft neutral tones were seen on the runways of Chanel, Gucci, and Marc Jacobs. The usual dark/black tones were put on the back burner in favor of soft looks that are typically reserved for spring. We love it. Bring on the winter soft tones!
Fashion Meets Sporty
The sporty high fashion trend continues this season with leather “sweatpants,” boxy tops, baseball caps, sneakers, loose easy-going fits. As seen on DKNY and Chanel’s runway’s, amongst others, the sporty trend continues to reign this season.
