We became big fans of Charlotte Olympia three years ago while covering the annual FN Awards for Blackbook Magazine. Olympia won the Vivian Infantino Emerging Talent Award and officially set herself as a force to be reckoned with in the fashion industry. We instantly fell in love with her completely unique, whimsical designs. From her adorable “birthday” flats to her out-of-this-world “Picasso” stilettos, Olympia manages to capture a broad range of admirers as her star continues to rise. If you’re new to the genius of Charlotte Olympia, her designs can be described as nothing short of true art and craftsmanship. There are literally no other designs out there like hers. If there is, well, it’s because someone has knocked her off –not the other way around!
The London-born designer is of half English, half Brazilian descent. Her mother and sister are well-known models Andrea and Alice Dellal and her grandfather is a real estate tycoon in England. Despite her prominent family, Olympia is known for her amazing designs –not her heritage. In 2000 she began her studies at the prestigious Cordwainers while interning at Giambattista Valli in Paris. In 2004 she graduated and later launched her shoe line in 2007. The rest is history!
It’s safe to say Olympia has dug her heels in (pun intended) as a shoe pioneer who will be mentioned in history among the likes of powerhouses Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik. Yep, foxes, she’s that good. We mean it. If you’re already familiar with her, let’s gloat together! If not, we’re pleased to welcome you to the beautiful, whimsical world of Ms. Charlotte Olympia! Enjoy.
