8 Weird DIY Beauty Tricks That Actually Work

We’re about to tell you how to utilize a few things in some fairly unconventional ways that –believe it or not– actually work! Hey, when it comes to beautifying, we can never get enough tips. So here goes…

Coffee Grounds for Cellulite

There’s actually a wellness doctor who has an e-book about using coffee grounds for cellulite –because it works! Soak ground coffee in just enough water to create a paste. Using a body brush or washcloth scrub troubled areas. The high caffeine content in coffee helps circulate blood and tighten skin. Sure beats spending thousands on treatments and gimmicky creams!

Oil Pulling for Healthier Gums and Teeth

Oil pulling is an ancient practice of swishing oil around in the mouth to pull toxins from the body, freshen breath, improve gum  health, and whiten teeth. Because oil has a “negative charge” it draws impurities from your mouth. (Think of it as a magnet.) Use a tablespoon on coconut oil, olive oil, or sesame oil and swish around your mouth for 10 to 20 minutes. Spit oil out in a trashcan or toilet (never spit it down a drain as it will harden and cause clogs). Brush immediately after. You’ll notice fresher breath immediately! Within a week you’ll notice whiter teeth and improved gum health.

Aspirin & Honey For Acne and Exfoliation

Crushed up aspirin combined with water and honey applied as a mask is one of the best ways to bust a breakout and reduce redness. (Obviously make sure you’re not allergic to honey  or aspirin first. ) Crush up  6 aspirin in a half teaspoon of water until dissolved. Add a teaspoon of honey and mix until blended. Apply for 20 minutes. Rinse with a washcloth and warm water. You should see a reduction in redness and blemishes after the first use!

Lemon for Dark Mark Reduction

Lemon is an excellent natural ingredient for reducing sunspots and post acne hyperpigmentation. Much like it lightens hair, it also lightens skin -without the harsh, harmful chemicals! Squeeze a fresh lemon into a cup and apply to dark spots. Refrigerate leftover juice. It will stay fresh for up to a week.

Castor Oil (Laxative) For Hair Growth

Castor Oil, (found in the laxative area of your local drugstore) is typically used to treat constipation, but its’ greatest use is for hair growth! It’s an excellent eyebrow and lash growth product. In fact, if you look at the ingredients of many over the counter lash growth products, they often contain castor oil. How it works: Hair growth is often stunted by a clogged follicle. Castor oil breaks down the clog in the pore to help hair grow faster. It also helps nourish and moisturize for healthier hair.

Freeze Your Jeans

There’s nothing worse than shrinking your jeans in the wash! The best way to preserve your favorite jeans (short of dry cleaning) is to put them in the freezer. Freezing your jeans kills bacteria acting as a natural dry cleaning agent. For extra freshening throw them on a low heat setting with a dryer sheet for a couple minutes and voila! A clean pair of jeans without the fading/shrinking.

Toe Taping for High Heel Pain Relief

High heels can really complete an outfit pop all while ironically, simultaneously ruining your night! Tragic. This sounds a little weird, but there is nerve that splits between your 3rd and 4th toe which causes pain in the balls of your feet. By taping the 3rd and 4th toes together with surgical tape, less strain is put on the nerve which helps alleviate pain.
