We always love a great beauty hack. Especially when it involves using random products we already have. Some beauty tricks have been around for decades, but there are a few recent ones that have us intrigued. Whether you want to shrink that big red pimple or cover up dark circles from your late night out, here are 5 cool beauty tricks you’ve probably never heard of.
Red Lipstick For Dark Circles
This one is so counterintuitive. Who would have thought red lipstick could cover dark circles? Yes, it sounds crazy, but we tried it and it works! We were so intrigued by this makeup trick that we created a separate article that explains how it works. You can learn how to do it here.
Pepto Bismol Facial
Yes, that liquidy pink stuff that gets rid of stomach aches is actually great for your skin too! It contains salicylic acid, which is an exfoliant that helps break down clogged pores and decongest skin. So, next time you need a quick facial, reach for that Pepto Bismol. Your skin will look brighter and clearer after just 15 minutes!
Reduce Facial Redness with Visine
The same way that Visine constricts redness in your eyes, it can constrict redness in your skin. It works great to reduce pimple redness as well as redness around the nose. Simply dab Visine directly onto the affected area and watch the redness fade away. However, this is a temporary fix, so you may need to reapply throughout the day to keep the redness at bay.
Lemon & Aspirin For Dark Spots
Lemon and aspirin are excellent in their own right for treating various conditions, but these two ingredients combined really help fade dark spots and post acne hyperpigmentation. Crush up about 5 aspirin and add just enough lemon juice to make a paste and apply to discolored skin for about 20 minutes. You may need to do it for about a week, but it really works!
Oil For Blackheads
Yes, this is counterintuitive, but oil breaks down oil! You may think stripping your skin will reduce blackheads, but actually applying a thick layer of oil such as castor oil and letting it sit on your blackheads will help dissolve them. Let the oil sit on your skin for about 20 minutes, rinse with warm water and a washcloth, then gently extract the pores using an extracting tool. Your blackheads will come out much easier, leaving your skin clearer and less red.
